Update on CE testing of this product:
Outer Material pass at CE AA indicates that the single skin of Maximite® is suitable for easy average riding on a motorcycle when used in a fully passed product.
The Maximite® material used has just passed the CE impact abrasion test at the highest zone level of AA everywhere ina Single-skin. It has also passed CE outer seam strength at the same level and also CE tear strength at the highest zone level of AA everywhere. So all it needs to do now is pass inner lining and final design points. It will then be sold as full CE protective wear at a higher price.
Easyrider Single Skin Hoodie – New 2019 Design
Our previous 2017/2018 hoodie had a thick denim lining inside and so customers asked us if we could make a lighter, version for warmer days, even if it meant they would have to slow down to easy riding in it.
They said that they wanted the choice to add layers if they wished, but the actual jacket to be light and as strong as possible, so we have.
This hoodie has a detachable hood so can also be used as a Lightweight Hood- less jacket.
We are putting this hoodie/jacket forward for the CE AA level which is for casual easy riding. The material used is strong but as it is a single skin for warmer weather so we would recommend wearing layers underneath for cold weather or an extra jacket underneath for faster motorway riding etc.
This product has a waterproof lining. This is to back up the recommended spraying of Fabsil on the outside of the garment and seams. The waterproof lining is of course sewn through to produce the garment so the seams need to be treated after a wash or heavy rain with Fabsil spray or equivalent.
Passing a CE test will mean it can be sold as motorcycle protective wear, until such time, due to enforced European law it has to be sold as motorcycle leisurewear.
The EN test costs a lot of money so when it has passed the cost will have to be put in the price, so, unfortunately, they will be more expensive when it passes.
What is Maximite®?
Maximite® is our newest “State of the Art” fabric. Following on from our previous “State of the art” fabric of 2015 called Titanite® that, when tested with denim for our Elite jeans, passed the race suit test standard.When thickened and used with denim for our Maximus Jeans passed a world record 15.05 seconds which is twice that of most of our competitors and 50% higher than the next best.
Titanite® when tested as a single skin passed a higher standard than denim and Kevlar® to give you some idea.
Under our own tests Maximite® is approximately the same strength and abrasion resistance whilst being smoother and less shiny in appearance. This enables us to use it on the outside rather than mostly as a liner.
This then enables us to use it as a single skin fabric for single skin products such as the new Easyrider Hoodie and Jacket for normal, casual riding.
It also enables us to use it for our new Beast Gloves.
Our aim with Maximite® is to produce lighter weight realistic products that are not necessarily record-breaking and therefore heavy, as we have in the past, but are comfortable, wearable and realistic to the needs of normal domestic motorcycle riding.
So the aim is to be strong enough but light enough still to be used comfortably on a daily basis all year round.
A single skin product with a waterproof membrane can have layers like jumpers etc added in cold weather but then used without extra layers in summer, so, therefore, giving a feasible all year round product for easy-riding, and so this is the main emphasis of the Maximite® single skin range.
Maximite® is currently in the process of being independently tested for a CE standard of abrasion resistance.
We seem to be one of the only companies adhering to the new legislation. Until this product has achieved its CE it cannot be sold as a motorcycle protective wear and must be sold as leisure wear.
Please follow the measurement guide below to ensure you order the correct size. This guide uses three measurements, Armpit to Wrist, Armpit to Armpit and Hip to Hip. You do not need to measure your back.

To ensure the elbow armour is in the correct position grab hold of the cuffs, fully extend your arms then release. This will cause the elbow to slip into the correct position if it wasn`t already.
Caring for your Roadskin product.
We recommend washing on a cold or cool wash (20° or below), preferably by hand, using a non-biological detergent and then drip drying. DO NOT tumble dry. This helps to maintain the integrity of the cotton or denim ensuring your product lasts longer. Failure to follow these instructions may result in a weakening of the product.
Water Resistance and treatment.
This product has a waterproof membrane attached to the inside of the outer material. This is to back up the recommended spraying of Fabsil on the outside of the garment and seams. The waterproof membrane is of course sewn through when producing the garment so the seams need to be treated after a wash or heavy rain with Fabsil spray or equivalent. We recommend Fabsil, as in our own tests it works FAR better than any other product. As the water resistance of the product is subject to maintenance by the user these garments are sold as water resistant and not water proof. Saying that, these products are sold virtually everyday from recommendations of people happy with their ability in the rain, when maintained properly.
Important Information Regarding Armour.
It is very important to wear armour with these products, not just to help protect your bones but also to reduce the impact of the bone against the fabric in the key areas. The fabric is not designed to withstand impact, in the key areas, without armour.
Important Information Regarding CE Testing.
If a product is stated clearly to have a FULL CE approval it is sold as Motorcycle Protective wear. If a product does NOT state a FULL CE approval and only material test passes then it is sold as Durable Leisurewear, NOT as Motorcycle protection wear.
Although Roadskin always self regulated, most companies making bike jeans did not ie selling part lined jeans to fast bike owners etc, so due to this, European legislation has been enforced ie: all motorcycle clothing is being changed from leisurewear to protective wear by way of a new CE test pren17092. We are busy putting our products through this CE process, but until each product is proclaimed by us as fully CE approved it will continue to be be sold as leisurewear with no protection claims. When each one passes they will then be sold as protection wear, albeit at a higher price to pay for the CE.
No product can honestly guarantee against injury, we should and would never guarantee against injury even with these great products that we believe wholeheartedly in, as it could give a false sense of security to the rider.
All we can do is make the best products we can.
If a customer is expecting a guarantee or assurance of no harm or injury to themselves or anyone they must simply not purchase our goods.
Saying that we are the only company we know of, that makes clear what each product is exactly designed for and the only company that has made the stance against financial gain to NOT sell PART LINED non fully reinforced products.
Which must show people that we are not a typical company that looks to profit first, we are a company that is genuine and cares about our fellow bikers.
Due to the recent European legislation put upon us before we leave the EU: We have to get all products passed EN CE for them to be sold as Motorcycle clothing rather than leisurewear.
If any Motorcycle clothing sold has no FULL CE it is NOT protection wear, whatever they say to you. So this product is currently being tested to the current CE requirements.
We are hoping that it will pass (this can take several months) and then if so, we will be able to sell it as official protection wear, until such time this item is being sold as a leisure wear product, which means it has no claims of protection.
As from last year by law until a product can show a full CE it can only be sold as Leisurewear, this is not just us, this is the case with ALL motorcycle clothing now, we are just being honest and telling you.
So be aware, this product is currently sold as leisurewear, (which is the same as 99.9% of Motorcycle clothing has been for years) so not protection wear until it gets the CE certificate, so does not come with any claims of protection what so ever. Once the products get CE, they will, of course, have to be more expensive to pay for the extremely expensive certification process.
